Visas and Passports

Travelers coming to Uflarkistan are required to carry a tourist visa and a valid passport at all times. Note that all male and female visitors aged 18-49 are subject to conscription into the Uflarkisan Army's Landmine Removal Brigade for up to 2 weeks of compulsory service.

For Your Safety

Whether in a tour group or adventuring on your own a holiday in Uflarkistan is a worry-free time for most visitors. It is useful to bear in mind, however, that some of the local flora and fauna are extremely dangerous and should not be touched or approached without protective clothing.

You may encounter colorful pirates or a friendly members of a warlord's private army in some remote provinces. In such instances it is best advised to pretend you're dead and lie motionless in a ditch until help arrives.

Uflarkistan is patrolled by several different police forces including the Federal Police, the Border Police, the Airport Police, the Highway Police, the Civil Police and the Internal Militia. Every police unit has jurisdiction over different geographies, incidents and  combinations thereof.  Generally it is easier to resolve your problem on your own without involving the police.

What to Wear

Deciding what to wear is easy when you come to Uflarkistan, since it enjoys only one comfortable season year round. Temperatures vary from 140 degrees (F) in the daytime to -40 degrees (F) in evenings, so it's best to be prepared with both light clothing and several comfortable overcoats. If you're planning to drive or take the train you'll be doing a lot of walking, so comfortable shoes are in order. Remember to pack suntan lotion (we recommend an SPF value of at least 100,000 due to the permanent hole in the ozone layer over the Uflarkistan Basin).

Money

The basic unit of currency in Uflarkistan is the Uflarken Ruble (UR). Major airports and banks will be glad to exchange foreign currency for UR. Of course credit cards and ATM cards are widely accepted. Bear in mind when asking for an ATM machine, you should request directions to a "Ruble Dispenser". Bear in mind that the word "ATM Machine" sounds very much in Uflarken like "ayetee em makchin" which translates to "I would like to find a place to have sex with your yak".

Tipping

Tipping is widely frowned upon in Uflarkistan, though it has become universally expected from almost everyone who provides any kind of service. A good guideline is to tip 5% to 200% of the cost of a meal or service.

Telephony

Your GSM mobile phone should work anywhere in Uflarkistan where service is offered. In remote areas, the national mobile service, Teleflark Mobile offers the rental of satellite phones and carrier pigeons.
